Russia orders Google to lift restrictions from RT YouTube channel

MOSCOW, May 11 (PRIME) -- The Russian communications service has sent Google a letter with a request to lift restrictions from a YouTube channel of local media RT as soon as possible, the watchdog said on Tuesday in a statement.

The authority said YouTube earlier blocked a series of materials on RT’s channel, including an interview with virologist Dmitry Lvov, again.

“The option of releasing the video materials and broadcast online was also limited under the pretext of distribution of unreliable information about new coronavirus infection COVID-19 and its consequences,” the service said.

The watchdog said that such actions of YouTube’s administration violate the key principles of distribution of information and free access to it and are an act of censorship.
